  3. Thank you for your recent purchase or taking the time
  4. to evaluate FileBack PC.  You have selected one of the 
  5. premiere file backup software utilities available for 
  6. Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP.

  8. Installation Instructions (Full Download)
  9. =========================================
  10. After unzipping the .ZIP or .EXE archive, locate the
  11. SETUP.EXE program file and double-click to start it.
  12. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the
  13. FileBack PC program file.  If you have a previous
  14. version of FileBack PC installed on your computer
  15. you should install the new copy in the same location
  16. as the old copy.

  18. Note: You must close any previous version of FileBack PC
  19. before attempting to copy the new program file.

  21. Installation Instructions (Update Download)
  22. ===========================================
  23. If you have a copy of FileBack PC already running, shut
  24. it down before attempting to install the update.  Once the
  25. old version has shut down, copy the files from the update
  26. archive (.ZIP file) over the top of your older version,
  27. making sure to replace each existing file.  Once the
  28. newer version has been copied, you may double-click on
  29. FileBack.exe to being using it.

  31. Automatic Startup
  32. =================
  33. By default FileBack PC does not load at Windows startup.
  34. If you wish to have FileBack PC launch with windows so your
  35. backups can run in the background, enable one of the "Load
  36. at Windows Startup" options on the "Options" page of the
  37. main window.

  39. If you later decide to uninstall FileBack PC, you will need
  40. to turn these options off before uninstalling the software
  41. to prevent an error at Windows startup afterward. 
  42. (Unfortunately, the uninstallation software being used does
  43. not take care of this situation.)

  45. A note on the documentation
  46. ===========================
  47. The help file for version 3.2 has not been completed.  Rather
  48. than not supply a help file, the help file for version 3.1b is
  49. included.  As some of the tab pages of the main dialog have
  50. changed, clicking on the "help" button may bring up the
  51. wrong information.

  53. When the help file is published, it will be made available as
  54. an automatic product update.  Be sure to enable the automatic
  55. update feature of FileBack PC to be alerted to this and all
  56. other updates.  (We normally do not send e-mail concerning
  57. new releases and other updates.)

  59. For users of the trial version
  60. ==============================
  61. The trial version of FileBack PC includes all of the
  62. functionality of the registered enterprise edition. The
  63. only differences between the trial version and a registered
  64. enterprise edition are (1) a two backup entry limit, and
  65. (2) the main FileBack PC window cannot be minimized in the
  66. trial version.

  68. If FileBack is registered as a standalone version the
  69. network and e-mail functionality will be disabled.  This will
  70. prevent backups from being processed to or from network 
  71. drives, and will disable the network connection restoration
  72. and all e-mail features as well.

  74. For users of previous versions
  75. ==============================
  76. The configuration file format has changed with this version.
  77. If you are considering going back to a previous version we
  78. highly recommend making a backup of the FileBack.FBCfg
  79. file before running the newer version.

  81. In addition, the old registration data file FileBack 
  82. Registration.dat used with versions of FileBack PC released prior to
  83. the year 2001 is no longer used in this version.  FileBack
  84. PC will attempt to upgrade your existing registration if
  85. possible, but in some cases you may need to re-install your
  86. original registration code as contained in your registration
  87. e-mail, or re-request your code from MOS.  FileBack PC will
  88. alert you if you need to do either of the above.
